Natural Irish Moss is a vegan’s version of gelatine. Use to thicken sauces, smoothies, make ice cream, whipped cream, puddings, mousse, cakes, and more! It is a type of seaweed which grows along coastlines of specific countries.

Rich in minerals specifically iodine and sulfure, great source of calcium, magnesium, sodium. Helps to detoxify the body, reduce inflammation and strengthens connective tissues, including skin, hair, nails. Will expand to 20 to 100 times its weight when soaked. Blend with water to create a gel and keep in the fridge to use anytime you need to thicken your dish or create a wonderful dessert or smoothie.

Irish Moss is also great for external use when mixed to body lotions, it hydrates dry skin, moisturizes and helps treat skin conditions.

How to Prepare Irish Moss:

Rinse and clean well a handful of Moss – check for hidden sand and make sure you get out as much as possible.

Soak 6-18 hours in filtered water, at room temperature, rinsing a few more times. The Moss will turn a creamy white to

translucent colour, and feel slippery and soft. It will double in volume. Don’t worry about faint distinctive Moss smell,

it will be odourless and tasteless at end of process. Add 1 cup of water and drained moss to blender and blend till smooth and creamy.

You may now store the gelled moss in the fridge to use as needed. It will keep sealed in fridge for 2 – 3 weeks.

When you add the Moss to your recipe, for a more “set” result, it may take up to an hour in the fridge to fi rm up the dish. With its all natural ingredients the thickening eff ect may vary.
